Paw Paw District Fair Derby (Rivesville, WV)

Traveling from Fairmont

1.  Take I-79 North and get off at Exit 132 (also called South Fairmont or Whitehall exit). When coming off the ramp you will need to stay straight and go the to the stop light.

2.  At the light make a left onto US Rt. 250. You will travel under an overpass and go through two stoplights. I am not sure of the mileage; however, you will be traveling on this road for awhile.

3.  After you go through the second stoplight (right before Go Mart), some landmarks to watch for that you will pass include: Muriale's Italian Restaurant on your right and then eventually you will come to a Pizza Hut to your left and another stop light beside Pizza Hut and just before you cross a bridge.

4.  Continue straight, crossing the bridge, and at the top of the hill there is another stoplight and Shop and Save will be to your right. Count this as your first stoplight and continue through it.

5.  You will pass through 5 stoplights. After the fifth stop light, you will go across another bridge and basically will be in downtown Fairmont at this point.  There is another stoplight at the end of the bridge.  At this point, get into the right lane of traffic.

6.  Go through two other stop lights before the road starts to curve to the left. Before the curve, you will see a large parking garage on your left, and Ginger's Apparel on your right. Follow the road as it curves around. To your right you will see the Marion County Transit Authority building, the Fairmont Fire Station and Fairmont Police offices all on the right side.

7.  The road will begin to narrow as you proceed into the outskirts of town. You will go around a tight turn and then see Miller Jr. High School to your left and eventually Colassesano's Pizza on your right. You will pass a Rich Oil Station on your right and then go across another bridge.

8.  Travel on the road through more residential/rural areas. You will get further out of town and finally cross a set of train tracks and the river will start running directly by the road, and then you will enter Rivesville.

9.  Continue going straight and following the road. In Rivesville, you will pass a gas station on your left just as you enter town and then further along the main drag is another convenience store on your left (maybe a 7-11). The road will then curve to the left. Continue following it.

10.  After a couple miles, the fair grounds will be located on the right side of the road. There is a sign that says Paw Paw District Fair Grounds.
